I'm aware I must be becoming a little boring and repetative in my 'thanks & appreciations' for comments and looking in replies, but it's just that I really mean it and so you may well have to put up with it.Pete Woodruffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16039548314043002357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3003192502289547336.post-87578674835278706592009-12-24T14:19:13.305+00:002009-12-24T14:19:13.305+00:00Happy Christmas Pete

Most of the Pennine birds head south-east and winter coastal Lincolnshire to Kent where as you point out, they have seriously declined

Ironically, the number of Scottish birds wintering along our coast (& Cumbria) may (note MAY!) have increased in recent years due to 'enforced migration' due to unsuitable winter feeding on the breeding grounds. In this respect, there is not a lot of history of wintering Twite in coastal Lancs, perhaps the farming methods at that time encouraged them to stay put in Scotland.Pete Marshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09461363671751316069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3003192502289547336.post-49103920922151083672009-12-24T14:08:40.952+00:002009-12-24T14:08:40.952+00:00Happy Christmas Pete; looking forward to more &quo...Happy Christmas Pete; looking forward to more "Birds2Blogging" in the New Year.
CBColin Bushellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08232064277617895591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3003192502289547336.post-23681616905226326842009-12-24T13:10:34.049+00:002009-12-24T13:10:34.049+00:00A very happy Christmas to you and all who sail wit...A very happy Christmas to you and all who sail with you.... may the road rise with you.
