Local Goodies!

Some good news I can't hold on to any longer.

OK....So the pik is rubbish, but it matters not, as it's another first for the best garden in Lancaster LA1. A Chiffchaff took a liking to our plum tree this morning, briefly but long enough for me to get the grab shot through the kitchen window for evidence.

And a little further afield, Ian Mitchells egret fest continued as he found and photographed the dynamic duo of Great White and Little Egret at the Wenning/Lune confluence this very day.

Watch this space for more to come on B2B....Maybe a Baltimore Oriole next!!

  1. Congratulations on the garden Chiffchaff, Pete!

If local experience is anything to go by, in just a few years time you'll find that getting Great White and Little Egret together will be a common happening. We now get huge numbers of both species at Rutland Water - 40 GWEs were observed from Tim Appleton's garden at one time recently!

Baltimore Oriole? - stranger things have happened !!!!

    Take good care - - - Richard

  2. Really chuffed about the Chiffchaff Richard. As for the Baltimore Oriole, well what can I say, the last record was a 1st winter bird in Ireland, 16 October 2019. I'm not holding my breath!
