I enjoyed flicking through the little black book for some highlights of birds found or seen through 2025. It was never going to be regarded as a spectacular year, but at least it resulted in getting much more of a fix from my birding than anything else.

DeleteA Happy New Year to you Guillermo....Pete.
Hi Pete,
ReplyDeletePerhaps not spectacular, but very interesting counts nonetheless.
The new year has begun, and it's starting all over again. Who knows what surprises nature has in store for us this year? I'm curious.
A happy and healthy New Year 2026 to you and your family.
Best regards, Frank
Many thanks for your comments once again, and 'who knows what surprises nature has in store for us this year', I'll second that one Frank.
DeleteWith Regards and a Happy New Year....Pete.
Hi Pete,
ReplyDeleteAlways really enjoy reading your posts; all the best for the new year.
I was really interested to note your green woodpecker observation at Birk Bank in August. Do you remember whereabouts you saw/heard it?
I visited Birk Bank for the first time 5 years ago in early April, and after getting out of the car at Rigg Lane car park I immediately heard the yaffle call and saw the bird fly overhead. The same happened on subsequent visits over the following few days, but then nothing for all of my many visits since! I always keep an ear out whenever I visit in the hope of hearing it again.
It would be great of you would contact me Simon. I can fill you in with the woodpecker details for your next visit to BB. stonechat4@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Simon....Pete.
A nice look back over the year. Plenty to celebrate there. Hope this year has plenty in store for you to see. Take care.
