BIRDING THE LUNE ESTUARY THE FOREST OF BOWLAND AND BEYOND................................................................................................................LITTLE OWL MARTIN JUMP

Best Wishes 2.

If you're reading this you probably look in on Birds2blog regularly and although I repeat myself often on Birds2blog, I really do have to thank you for doing so once more, it is much appreciated. The picture in the 'clik the pik' greetings above was taken from the headland at Cockersands last year on 12 March, a beautiful crisp and bright day with the Lakeland mountains across Morecambe Bay in the distance and covered with a coat of snow.

Stonechat Ana Minguez

The best bird of that day had to have been the female Stonechat at Fluke Hall. Fifteen other species got on to my highlights list that day including 2 Mediterranean Gull at Cockers Dyke....You don't have to be a 'MEGA' to get on to my highlights list, the Grey Wagtail and Grey Plover are other 'grey' examples of species that qualify for the list.

Back to today....

For one reason or another I've not been able to get out birding since 17 December, pretty depressing stuff. If I'd have know then that it would be my last days birding for over two weeks I'm not sure Christmas would have been as enjoyable as it was, but hopefully before this week is out I'll be back on the beat to do some decent birding and maybe see the brilliant view from Cockersands for the first time in 2014.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOOD BIRDING TO EVERYONE.
